Most business owners think they are pretty good interviewers. In reality, however, nothing could be further from the truth. Plus, they are rarely good at getting the best prospects to join them. An interview is about exchanging information. You want to know certain things about the applicant. The applicant wants to know certain thing about our business and the opportunity. Some of us are better than others at carrying on our half of that two-way conversation. However, it helps if you have had training on how to get the information you need from an applicant in a relaxed, friendly manner. It also helps if you know what specific characteristics you are wanting for any future hire. This is more often than not a huge stumbling block in selecting that “A” player you so desperately want.
